Victory for Éric Ciotti: justice invalidates his exclusion

14 June 2024 / Interviews

This Friday there was a long trial between the leaders of the Republicans, torn over the new alliance with the RN.

Dismissed from his position as president by his former rebellious elected representatives, Éric Ciotti filed an appeal and confronted them today before the Paris Court, through his lawyer Philippe Prigent. After hours of unbearable waiting, the long-awaited verdict came at 20 p.m.: the law is with him, he will remain president of the Les Républicains party.

Behind the victory for the leader reinforced in his functions, it is a historic blow for the National Rally which therefore makes an unprecedented agreement for the anticipated legislative elections under two now legitimate banners: RN and LR. The investitures can therefore resume calmly for the remaining 48 hours, more than 70 candidates are expected to defend the double label allowed by the coalition.

From the 577 candidates nominated to the alternates, including financial agents and campaign teams, the challenge remains significant between now and Sunday.
