2024 Presidential Election: Donald Trump redoubles his virulent criticism of Kamala Harris

Donald Trump stepped up his attacks on Kamala Harris at a scathing rally in Joe Biden's hometown of Scranton, a month before the US presidential election. The former Republican president called Harris a "liar" and "incompetent", saying she was "totally unfit to be president". Trump warned his supporters that Harris' election would lead to increased spending and power outages.

Speaking in a key swing state, Pennsylvania, where Biden narrowly defeated him in 2020, Trump also took aim at the incumbent president, describing him as “pathetic and sad.” He said that after four years of a presidency he considers a “horror movie,” America cannot afford to prolong this situation.

On the ground, Harris is banking on the Biden administration's infrastructure projects and union support to re-attract working-class voters who swung Republican in 2016. For her part, she will be making numerous trips to Pennsylvania and other key states such as Arizona and Nevada, while major figures from the Democratic Party, such as Barack Obama, will be lending a hand in the campaign.

Trump continues to focus his speeches on the themes of immigration, the economy and security, painting a bleak picture of the current situation in the country to mobilize his electorate ahead of the November 5 election.
