Muriel Robin deplores the lack of homage from French cinema to Alain Delon
In an interview with 20 Minutes, Muriel Robin discussed season 2 of "Master Crimes", her humorous detective series soon to be broadcast on TF1, but also her friendship with Alain Delon and her view on homophobia in French cinema.
Reprising her role as Louise Arbus, a criminology professor, she confides that she took great pleasure in finding this character again: "In this season 2, everything will go up a notch. The police investigations are more tense and twisted, the laughter is even more present, in the writing and in the acting." She also enjoys sharing the screen with her wife, Anne Le Nen, who plays Captain Delandre: "It's a pleasure to stay together. As time goes by, that's what I prefer, it's my priority in my life."
Muriel Robin also expressed her deep affection for Alain Delon, with whom she has had a long-standing friendship. "I always saw in him the broken little boy. I think that many women wanted to be in Alain's arms, I wanted to hold him in my arms to console him, to make him laugh," she confided. She regrets, however, that "the cinema did not pay him the tribute he deserved when he left," believing that "it's as if the cinema gave more importance to what we could criticize in Delon."
Addressing the topic of homophobia in French cinema, the actress recalled her comments made last year about the lack of leading roles for homosexual actors and actresses whose orientation is known. "I can't wait to see if tomorrow a [gay] man will be able to..." she said, mentioning her friend Vincent Dedienne as a possible exception.
Regarding her future projects, Muriel Robin announced her participation in the film "Magistrate" alongside Louise Bourgoin, as well as the preparation of a feature film entitled "Love is Love", which she hopes to direct in 2025. "I would like to co-direct it with Marwen Abdallah, because he is extraordinary and, for a first film, I choose humility," she explained.
