Death of Michel Blanc: “Because of Jean-Claude Dusse, no one called me anymore!”

07 October 2024 / Interviews

Died suddenly on October 4 at the age of 72 following anaphylactic shock, Michel Blanc leaves the world of French cinema orphaned. Since the actor's death, the tributes have been unanimous. It must be said that his role as Jean-Claude Dusse in The Bronzed has become cult for several generations.

However, This role has not always brought Michel Blanc luck.. In an interview he gave to Europe 1 in October 2023, in the show Media Culture, the actor admitted that after the release of Bronzés, no one called him anymore, declaring:  "Les Bronzés came out and there, radio silence. The directors didn't call me anymore. What is very paradoxical is that the first roles I played, before Les Bronzés was with authors. And then Les Bronzés came out, and then, radio silence, they didn't call me anymore. Which I understand quite well. The character was so typical that they must have thought that if they put me in a film, people would say, 'Oh, there's Jean-Claude Dusse in the film.' And that really knocks you out. In fact, it was the selection at Cannes with Tenue de soirée and Blier that got me out of it."
