Teacher filmed hitting 3-year-old student in police custody
The teacher at the Frères Voisins nursery school, located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, was taken into police custody this Monday morning following accusations of violence against a three-year-old student. The incident, filmed and widely shared on social media, has caused strong emotion in the community.
In the video, the teacher is seen hitting a crying little girl on the back, causing her to fall to the ground in front of her classmates. The teacher then places the child in a corner and sprays her face with an unidentified liquid, saying: "There, that feels good there." Following the broadcast of these images, the student's parents filed a complaint. A preliminary investigation for "violence against a minor under 15 without incapacity" was opened by the Paris prosecutor's office.
This Monday, the teacher was summoned to the police station in the 15th arrondissement and placed in police custody, accompanied by her lawyer, Mr. Laurent Hazan. This is not the first time that this teacher has been accused of violence. In May 2012, a mother had already reported an incident to the academic services of the National Education, accusing her of having slapped her child. However, this report did not give rise to any judicial or administrative action.
Child's condition and reactions
The girl's mother, named Rachel, said her daughter was deeply affected by the incident. "She cries all the time, throws things and no longer plays with her brothers," she told BFMTV, adding that she was seeking urgent psychological help for her daughter.
The mayor of the 15th arrondissement denounced this act, calling it "unspeakable", and several local figures are calling for increased vigilance in schools. The investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the events and assess whether other similar incidents may have occurred in the past. The authorities continue to examine the situation of the teacher, who remains in police custody for the time being.
