Rapper Sean Combs, aka Diddy, arrested in New York for sexual assault
Popular rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested in Manhattan on the night of September 16-17, following several accusations of sexual assault. Police acted on an indictment from the Southern District Court of New York, and details of the charges are expected to be released later today.
Diddy, 54, is at the center of a series of lawsuits, including rape lawsuits, that date back several months. Among the notable accusations, a former actress, Adria English, accuses him of sexually exploiting her between 2004 and 2009. A complaint filed by his ex-partner, Cassie, also alleges violent behavior during their relationship, with allegations of rape and physical assault.
Diddy's attorney, Marc Agnifilo, expressed disappointment with the district attorney's office's decision, calling the prosecution unfair. Combs, who has consistently denied the allegations, is known for his immense success in the music world, but he now faces serious allegations that call his image into question.
Diddy recently moved to New York and voluntarily anticipated the charges, according to his lawyer. Meanwhile, raids have been conducted on his residences, including in Los Angeles, and CCTV footage from 2016 showing acts of violence against Cassie has resurfaced.
While the indictment has yet to be made public, media reports suggest he could face charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. Diddy now faces major legal challenges that could have significant consequences for his career and reputation.
