The day Layvin Kurzawa (PSG) came back from pubalgia in a few days…
Yves Tucoulou is a physiotherapist relatively little known in France, a specialist in post-operative rehabilitation of cruciate ligaments of the knee. Highly respected in China, where the government has entrusted him with the management of a rehabilitation service, he is currently visiting Europe. He confided in us about the care given to a PSG player.
At the end of 2016, while he was monitoring a patient who had just had cruciate ligament surgery, he went to the Paris-Saint Germain training center to show the astonishing results he was obtaining through his post-operative protocol. Professors Saillant and Rolland were then surprised by what they observed, without pushing their curiosity further.
But in the next room, Layvin Kurzawa, then a left-back still in vogue at PSG, is not well. Not at all. Migraine and pubalgia-type pain. Unable to kick a ball. Doctors ask Yves Tucoulou his opinion.
The latter tests the player and estimates that in a few days, he will have got him back on his feet from this stubborn pubalgia. Here we go for 2-3 days of treatment. After two and a half drastic days, Layvin Kurzawa is back on the training center pitches, one Saturday morning, able to chain efforts and shoot the ball. Things he could no longer do.
Yves Tucoulou then suggests an adapted recovery protocol, with a whole bunch of instructions, particularly nutritional. Happy to no longer be in pain and to be able to play again in Ligue 1, the player will not follow the rest of the protocol too much...
Few weeks later, despite the work of the PSG medical staff, the pain gradually returned. He then underwent surgery in May 2017, which precipitated his long footballing decline. He would play very few professional matches again after that, even injuring his knee during a short stint in England. Yves Tucoulou was never recalled.
