Kev Adams: a 6-figure salary for Aladdin?
The comedian, who has become a bankable actor in French cinema, returns, for L'Express, to his film currently in theaters "The New Adventures of Aladdin" and discusses, in part, the question of his salary.
In just a few years, Kev Adams has made a name for himself, both in the world of comedians and in French cinema. Revealed by the show “We only ask to laugh” with Laurent Ruquier, he quickly rose to notoriety in 2010 with a first one-man show and burst onto the small screen with his role in the series “Soda”.
And its success is not ephemeral. In the cinema, his films attract millions of spectators. Les Profs (2013), Fiston (2014), Les Profs 2 (2015)… Not one of the films in which he is a main actor attracts less than 2 million admissions. His last one-man show “Voilà Voilà” attracted 500 people.
Despite this dazzling success, the 24-year-old comedian has managed to keep his head on his shoulders and his naturalness which has won over thousands of fans, as he has once again shown on the France 2 news set in front of a conquered Laurent Delahousse.
In full promotion of the film “The New Adventures of Aladdin”, currently in theaters, Kev Adams spoke to the columns of Express in an interview on the theme “Aren't you tired of? ". And the actor is not tired of being seen as a bankable actor: “ We must accept what we are and what we are fighting for. I have never made films for any other reason than to obtain recognition from the public. That's what it means to be bankable ».
“I don’t talk about numbers because they are necessarily misinterpreted”
But as soon as the question of salary is raised, the comedian becomes cautious, like all French actors for whom talking about his salary is taboo. When the figure of 700 euros for his role in “The New Adventures of Aladdin” is put forward, Kev Adams responds: “ I'm not talking about numbers because they are inevitably misinterpreted. If we don't know the cinema industry and its economy, these figures are incomprehensible.. " before continuing: “And then it gives an unhealthy image of this profession. People know that there is money and I prefer that they fantasize about these improbable amounts rather than telling the truth about these sums which remain outrageous. »
Going from 50 euros for the Teachers to the sum put forward by the media of 000 euros to play Aladdin proves the notoriety of the young actor who created, in 700, his production company My Family. For what ? He reveals it without taboo: “ I created this company because I understood that the best off in this profession were the producers. » But he also takes the opportunity to produce films and young artists on stage.
