Kamala Harris and Donald Trump will face off in a televised debate on ABC on September 10
On September 10, Vice-President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will meet on ABC for a crucial televised debate in the race for the presidency of the United States. This announcement was confirmed by ABC, stating that both candidates have agreed to participate in this major media event.
At a press conference in Florida, Donald Trump expressed his desire to debate Kamala Harris three times in September. Initially, he had listed Fox News for September 4, NBC for September 10 and ABC for September 25. However, his campaign team corrected its comments, specifying that the September 10 debate would be broadcast by ABC and that of September 25 by NBC.
Donald Trump, Republican candidate for the November presidential election, was awaiting a response from Kamala Harris' campaign regarding these debates. After Joe Biden withdrew from the race, Harris became the Democratic nominee. Outgoing President Joe Biden had planned to debate Trump, but the initial debate on June 27 raised concerns about his cognitive abilities, prompting some Democrats to call on him to step down.
Kamala Harris recently chose Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota, as her running mate. Together, they held rallies in the key states of Michigan and Wisconsin, mobilizing tens of thousands of supporters. This dynamic appears to have strengthened the Democratic ranks and erased Trump's lead over Biden in the polls.
Meanwhile, Trump's campaign is scrambling to adjust its strategy in the face of Harris's rise. Republican aides have criticized Harris for her lack of question-and-answer sessions with the press since the start of her campaign. Conversely, Trump continues to grant interviews, although primarily with conservative media outlets.
This ABC debate will be a pivotal opportunity for both candidates to present their visions and convince undecided voters as the November election approaches.
