Paris 2024 Olympics: Egyptian wrestler taken into custody for sexual assault
The Egyptian Olympic delegation is in shock this Friday morning after one of its members was arrested and taken into custody for sexual assault. The athlete in question, a wrestler who participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, was arrested by the police of the XNUMXth arrondissement of Paris while he was intoxicated on the public highway.
The events allegedly took place around 4:30 a.m. on the Quai d'Austerlitz, after the athlete, described as being of large stature, put his hand on a woman's buttocks. According to information gathered, the incident took place as the athlete was leaving Café OZ, where he had spent part of the night drinking. The victim immediately filed a complaint, leading to the opening of an investigation into sexual assault by the Paris prosecutor's office.
This case is not an isolated case at the Paris 2024 Games. On July 31, the father of Croatian judoka Barbara Matic was also placed in police custody for similar accusations brought by an Olympic volunteer. However, this investigation was ultimately closed without further action.
