JO PARIS 2024 – The anger of David Douillet, who believes the French medalists should not pay taxes on the bonuses received for their medals
David Douillet, one of the most successful French judokas in history and former Minister of Sports, protested on RMC against the imposition of bonuses for Olympic medalists.
While French medalists must receive a bonus for each medal obtained (80 euros for gold, 000 for silver and 40 for bronze), David Douillet estimated that athletes should not pay taxes on the amounts received, declaring: “Do you know how long it takes for them to get a medal? 15 years! Spread €80 over 000 years and you'll see what it is! Pay taxes on it?! It's scandalous ! »
