Olympic Games 2024: Darmanin announces the deployment of 2.000 police officers and gendarmes for the closing ceremony

As the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games approaches, the resigning Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, clarified this Friday, August 9, the reinforced security measures put in place for this event. Speaking from the Paris police headquarters, alongside Laurent Nuñez and Tony Estanguet, Darmanin announced the mobilization of 2.000 police officers and gendarmes to secure the Stade de France and ensure the return of spectators by public transport.

These 2.000 agents will be part of the 30.000 members of the police assigned to the general protection of the Games across France. The weekend will be particularly busy for the security forces, with 10.000 police and gendarmes dedicated to securing the Marathon.
