UNUSUAL – Coach stops counter-attack and gets sent off!
It doesn't happen every day. And fortunately so. In football, the amateur divisions sometimes offer us some strange images. Let's go to Italy, for a 6th division match, the equivalent in France of Regional 1 (R1).
Pontassieve, near Florence, hosts Subbiano (province of Arezzo, in Tuscany). This scene makes you want to laugh or cry. It's football gone wild (for those who have experienced it).
As the opposing team goes on the counter-attack, there are still two defenders for two attackers… But on this long through ball, Subbiano's coach, Alessio Guidotti, decided that it was up to him to stop the goal opportunity! Completely crazy. And against the law.
His tackle is as clumsy as it is idiotic.. He raises his hands as if he didn't mean to... Or to apologize for a well-intentioned gesture.
Of course, it's a red card. And the usual uproar, logical after such a surreal scene.
The match ended 0-0. No justice but certainly several months of suspension.
