Sharp increase in anti-Semitic acts in France: Gérald Darmanin sounds the alarm

The resigning Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, announced that 887 anti-Semitic acts were recorded in France in the first half of 2024, marking an alarming increase compared to the 304 incidents recorded during the same period in 2023. This figure testifies to a worrying increase in anti-Semitism in the country.

Darmanin expressed his deep concern about this upsurge, affirming that anti-Semitism “no longer hides” and that it constitutes an “insult to the dead, to the injured, to the humiliated and to our history”. His words highlight the seriousness of this rise in acts of hatred, which threatens the French social fabric.

This situation calls into question the authorities, who are now faced with the need to redouble their efforts to combat these manifestations of hatred and protect the targeted communities. The government must intensify its actions to deal with this crisis which is taking on worrying proportions.
