A personal connection with Deauville

Deauville holds a special place in Michael Douglas' life, as he met his wife, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, there. "It was like a waking dream when I first saw her," he joked. It was a turning point in his personal life, as he had joked to her that he would be the father of her children, which ultimately came true.

A career built on success and family heritage

Son of the illustrious Kirk Douglas, Michael Douglas has carved his own path to fame, becoming a major figure in cinema himself. He started out in the series The Streets of San Francisco before achieving recognition as producer of the Oscar-winning film Flight over a cuckoo's nest. This success has strengthened his confidence as an actor and producer. "It gave me the certainty that my choices were the right ones," he said.

Perspectives and a committed vision

At 79, Douglas remains optimistic about the future, especially on the political scene. Engaged, he shared his hopes for American politics, particularly confident in the potential of Kamala Harris. He also expressed his love for cinema, saying that his passion for this art will not fade away anytime soon. “This is the fifth time I have come to Deauville, and it certainly will not be the last,” he confided.

A well-deserved tribute

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of his honorary award, a recognition of his immense contribution to the film industry. This highlight was marked by the presence of French actress Ludivine Sagnier, a member of the jury, who paid tribute to his incredible career.
