Calogero launches into a musical comedy inspired by “The Count of Monte Cristo”
After years of dreaming about this project, Calogero officially announces that he is working on his very first musical, inspired by the famous novel the count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. In an exclusive interview with RTL, the singer shared his enthusiasm for this major artistic project, which he describes as a personal dream.
“I want to pay homage to Dumas’ masterpiece by creating something grand and classic,” Calogero said, adding that he works closely with his brother as well as his producer, Thierry Suc, known for his collaborations on shows such as Starmania et resistCalogero, who is passionate about 19th-century history, considers this adaptation a deeply personal project, wishing to capture the essence of an "intelligent and positive" revenge, like that of Edmond Dantès.
The singer has already started composing songs a year ago and wants the staging to focus more on movements than on traditional dance. As for the casting, Calogero indicates that it will probably be made up of unknown artists, although he wants to actively participate in the selection.
The project is ambitious and will probably not see the light of day until 2027 or 2028, with Calogero saying he wants to take the time necessary to create a show that lives up to the legendary novel.
