Berlusconi trashes Sarkozy in a book: “What a moron! »

15 October 2015 / Jerome Goulon

“I will never forget what Sarkozy did to me”… It would be easy to assume that this sentence comes from a French politician, notably with Nadine Morano, rejected by the leader of the Republicans after her comments on France, “a country of the white race”.

But this tirade is Silvio Berlusconi who utters it in a book of interviews with the British journalist Alan Friedman. Entitled My Way, the work, published today, allows Cavaliere to give his version of the facts on the “Ruby Gate” affair and the “Bunga Bunga” scandal.

But the former President of the Italian Council also looks back on his political career and his relations with international leaders. Among them, Nicolas Sarkozy, whom he worked with during the mandate of the French president from 2007-2012. And the leader of the Republican party is getting his due! It is even the subject of a chapter of around ten pages.

" What a moron ! what arrogance! »

The Huffington Post reveals two extracts from this work. One, a few weeks before Cavaliere's resignation in October 2011. The French intervention in Syria strained relations between the two leaders but Silvio Berlusconi arrived at the euro zone summit "with good intentions".

In the extract, the former president of the Italian council confides: “ Sarkozy was coming out of one of the anterooms where we were gathered before the formal opening of the meeting. Although we have disagreements, I approach him to greet him and say 'Ciao Nicola!' in a very friendly way, as I always am. I am giving my hand. He stares at me and refuses to shake my hand. But that's not all! He roughly pushes my arm away."

Then, further: “ I said to myself: 'What a moron!' What arrogance! No one has ever behaved like that to me. Sarkozy is the only person who has ever refused to shake my hand. »

“You see Silvio, now I’m rich, like you!” »

But in the book to be published this Thursday, October 15, Silvio Berlusconi does not only address political questions and admits that his relations with Nicolas Sarkozy were tarnished when the latter married Carla Bruni.

The Italian leader told the journalist: “ Sarkozy was incredibly hostile towards me, and for several reasons. One of them was that he was obsessed with money, he envied those who were wealthy. He was jealous, because I was rich and he wasn't." returning to a phrase from the French politician that would have had an impact on him: “ After his marriage, Sarkozy said to me: You see Silvio! Now I'm rich. Like you ! »

Will Nicolas Sarkozy respond to these attacks from the Cavaliere?

However, in June, a Japanese cartoon put the two politicians as a couple, look!
