Abdelouahed El-Baghdadi, the brother-in-law of Islamist terrorist Mohammed Merah, was arrested near the Vincennes fan zone. He is known for his radicalization, is on S file, and was sentenced to nine years in prison in 2017 after a trip to Syria. He was arrested unarmed by police officers from the BAC de Vincennes while he was about a hundred meters from the fan zone of the Château de Vincennes, a festive area during the Paris 2024 Olympics

Note that this arrest is linked to violence committed against his roommate in Toulouse, and that Abdelouahed El-Baghdadi had already been tried by the criminal court alongside five other men from the southwest, all of whom left in 2014. He was sentenced to nine years in prison after a trip to Syria

This arrest attracted attention because of its connection to Mohammed Merah, but also because of the radicalization and travel activities in Syria of Abdelouahed El-Baghdadi.
